History of Contempt for American GIs by America's Politicians
The True Measure of How President George W. Bush and the Republican Members of Congress Honor U.S. Military Personnel
· On July 11, 2007, the Republican members of the Senate blocked a measure that would have required that U.S. troops have at least as much time in the United States as they spend in Iraq before returning to the "killing fields.".
· President George W. Bush and the Republican members of Congress repeatedly blocked legislation removing U.S. troops from Iraq.
· Under President Bush, the medical treatment of wounded GIs in the U.S. Army Walter Reed hospital was shoddy, as well as the treatment of GIs in the unprepared VA system.
It can be argued that removing U.S. troops from Iraq will probably result in a regional explosion of violence. So, to avoid that Middle East catastrophe (resulting from the serial lying by the Bush politicians with initial support of almost every member of Congress), the American public must be willing to feed American GIs into the killing machine in Iraq.
Possibly, the American people should start evaluating what the liars and lying have brought down upon them, and this is only the start of what is in store for them and the country that will haunt Americans for decades to come.
Remember the serial lying that put them in harm's way in the first place. Remember the serial lying that resulted in 58,000 dead GIs in Vietnam. Remember the serial lying that resulted in 38,000 dead GIs in Korea. Remember the slaughter of American Navy personnel on the U.S.S. Liberty. And remember the serial lying by politicians and military personnel that kept the Vietnam slaughter going. Maybe Americans should turn off their various pacificers and spend some time learning about the hoaxes continually being played upon a gullible people.
All of those who voted for President Bush the first time, and especially those who voted for Bush the second time, should reflect upon their own role in the horrendous horror brought down upon the Iraqi people and upon the dead and maimed GIs.
The same goes for those who supported the start of the war, knowing that thousands of innocent Iraqis would be killed, maimed, and wounded.
Is the title of a book, The Ugly Americans: 20th & 21st Centuries, a fitting title?
