Those American Pontius Pilates
The Pontius Pilates
Among the American People
Pontius Pilate, the governor of Jerusalem, presided over the trial of Jesus and ordered his crucifixion. According to some scriptures, Pilate was forced to condemn Jesus to crucifixion due to pressure from the crowd, after which Pilate reportedly said that he washes his hands of the matter and innocent of Jesus’ blood. The blame was upon then people.
There appears to be some similarity between Pontius Pilate claiming he had no responsibility for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and that segment of the American public that supported the start of the war against the Iraqi people, or even worse, those who continued to support the war after they knew of the bloody agonizing harm and deaths suffered by Iraqi men, women, children and infants.
For most adult Americans, there was, and for many still is, no objection to:
· The brutal and deadly torture by American personnel at Abu Ghraib.
· The murders perpetrated by many U.S. military personnel in Iraq, including the murders of children and infants.
· The murders perpetrated by U.S. mercenaries in Iraq, especially by the Blackwater guards.
· The use by U.S. military personnel of napalm against Iraqis, or the thousands of cluster bomblets that kill innocent people.
· The serial lying by President Bush and his shills to obtain public support for the murderous war against the Iraqi people, even after the 12,000 casualties and deaths of U.S. military personnel and the several hundred thousand murders of Iraqi men, women, and children.
· The fabrication of reasons for attacking Iran.
The passive complicity of great numbers of Americans to these crimes cries out for an “eye-for-an-eye,” and this will surely come to those young Americans who care more about having some music device stuck in their ear, or obsessed with the ball games that should have been an era they passed after puberty! The general reaction: “What, me, worry!” as they continue their passive and active complicity in these and other crimes.
President George Bush’s wife, Lauri, complained about the human rights outrages in Burma (October 2007), ignoring the greatest humanitarian disaster brought about by her husband. Or the members of the U.S. House that voted to condemn brutalities perpetrated by Turkey 90 years ago while ignoring the brutalities associated with U.S. invasions of Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Panama, Grenada, Iraq, the subversion of countries all over the world.
The front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination is the woman who voted to start the war against Iraq, who continued to support the murderous invasion even after knowing of the death count, and who in September 2007 voted to give the war mongering president the right to start a war with Iran. The Republican candidates all have serious problems, making them ideal candidates to be president over the culture that has taken over in the United States!
All of the above is in character with the history of U.S. invasion of such countries as Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Grenada, Panama, the undermining of countries throughout the world, the teaching of torcher at the Army's School of the Americas.
Among the biggest supporters of the above conduct were Bush's Christians.
