Comparison in Impeachment Grounds Between President Nixon and President Bush
Comparison of Grounds for Presidential Impeachment Between President Richard Nixon and President George W. Bush
President Richard Nixon resigned as impeachment approached. The reason for the impeachment efforts? He covered up for a third-rate burglary of the Democratic political office as part of political tricks. He knew nothing of the event until after it happened. Other than that, no one was harmed. Media people, whose constant publicizing of the relatively minor event (as compared to other political tricks) brought about the impeachment actions.
Compared to the offense by President Nixon the actions of President George W. Bush, and the silence by Media people:
- Repeated serial lying to gain support for starting a war with Iraq, that killed between 100,000 to 1 million Iraqis, injuring and maiming many more; and killing over 4,000 Americans and injuring and maiming over 12,000 Americans, and creating huge financial problems for the United States and its people. The lying included:
- Lying about the presence of weapons of mass destruction.
- Lying about the availability of nerve gas.
- Lying about the availability of aircraft capable of delivering the weapons to the United States.
- Generated the greatest growth of people, worldwide, wanting to kill Americans.
- Lying about the presence of weapons of mass destruction.
- Lied about the rendition of people seized and tortured at the direction of the president and his staff.
- Lied about the torture of detainees.
- Lied about the outing of Valerie Plame.
- Lied about the firing of U.S. attorneys.
- Lied about countless other matters.
And impeachment action was nearly completed based upon President Bill Clinton's lying about sex in the White House oval office. Yet, not a word about the unprecented deadly lying by President George B. Bush.
Is the American public really that dumb, or that apathetic, or of the same mentality and culture as Bush?
