Would CIA assets lie? What a stupid question!

Comments on Media Reports Concerning
Whether CIA Personnel Would Lie

The subject is almost hilarious. Members of Congress have known for years that CIA personnel lie; constantly. CIA director Leon Panetta stated to Congress (June 2009) that CIA people had repeatedly lied since 2001—and that would include lying to please White House politicians to obtain public support for the invasion of Iraq.

And on matters adversely affecting national security. In the books, Defrauding America and Drugging America, for instance, secret CIA operations that require lying are throughout the books. For instance:

  • Decades of CIA drug smuggling, especially during the 1980s of the Reagan-Bush presidencies. Nafta now makes that less necessary.

  • CIA assets looting the savings and loans during the 1980s.

  • October Surprise, the scheme that manipulated the election between President Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan.

  • The Phoenix Program part of the Vietnam War, in which over 20,000 Vietnamese were tortured and killed.

  • The CIA funding of Afghan rebels that forced the Afghan leaders to ask the Soviet Union for military assistance.

  • And much more.
