Will Cheney and his Kind Never Learn!

Former Vice President Dick Cheney recently  (October 20, 2009) criticized President Obama for delay in sending more troops to Afghanistan. This is the same Cheney who played a key role in starting the war with Iraq on a serial lying, that resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths and worldwide jihad against Americans. While this writer disagrees with some of President Obama's decisions, his basic honesty and hesitation on Afghanistan are to be praised.

The United States cannot prevail in Afghanistan. American forces are seen as invaders; the Taliban consists of the Pashtun tribe, which is the dominate group in the country. Al Qaeda is the enemy, and is now transnational, and decentralized. The argument that assumes al Qaeda is only in Afghanistan is obviously wrong.

To do what  war hawks like Cheney wants is to send half a million American troops into Afghanistan in a no-win situation.
