Unaddressed Hazards with the
Northwest Airlines Overflight of Minneapolis

There were two potentially serious and deadly problems with the Northwest Airlines flight proceeding 150 miles beyond its destination at Minneapolis on October 23, 2009.

• The danger of being shot down. The authority given to government bureaucrats after 9/11 to shoot down any airliner suspected of being hijacked constitutes a threat to everyone on that flight (or at any other time). Under that bizarre policy, if the pilots on that Northwest Airlines had continued to remain asleep (assuming that probable situation did exist), the military jets alerted to intercept that airliner could have been ordered by a government bureaucrat to shot it down, killing everyone on board.
   

  • A government bureaucrat could have ordered the death of everyone on board that, or any other flight, on the possibility that it was hijacked; and if it were hijacked, that the hijacking could not have been thwarted thereafter; and that the alleged hijacked aircraft might be flown into a building. The arrogance of that policy illustrates the culture in government and willingness of the masses to accept it..
     
• Crash due to fuel exhaustion. The other deadly danger to the people on board the Northwest flight was that with the minimum fuel carried by the flight to reduce costs, the Northwest flight could have run out of fuel. That could have happened either while the pilots were still asleep, or before they could have made a safe power-on landing somewhere.
