Sampling of Ways in Which Aviation Terrorism Will Continue

Sampling of the Many Ways in Which
Aviation Terrorism
Can/Will Succeed

  • Explosive material molded into the sides of checked suitcases, with the wiring and detonator hidden in the metal framework.
  • Explosive material hidden in large carry-on baggage. This could be greatly reduced by limiting carry-on to the size of toilet kits.
  • Explosives placed into checked bags by baggage handlers who routinely steal large quantities of contents from the bags that they load. With this type of mentality, placing explosives on board an aircraft, especially if well paid fordoing it, or incensed by the U.S. policies overseas.
  • Explosives placed on aircraft by the large number of aircraft maintenance personnel.
  • Explosives placed on aircraft by the large number of personnel providing food and other supplies.
  • Explosives placed on aircraft by non-authorized personnel entering restricted areas.
  • Cargo placed on passenger airliners, most of which is not checked, and even if checked, easily concealed from detection.
  • Surface to air missiles fired at arriving or departing aircraft, throughout the world, including to a limited extent inside the United States.
  • Human errors throughout the anti-terrorist system.
