50 Year Anniversy of World's Worst Air Disaster--and Contining Ripple Effects
50-Year Anniversary of World's Worst Airline Disaster—and Ripple Effects
Fifty years after the event, the New York Times ran a half-page article (December 13, 2010) on that event. http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/12/park-slope-plane-crash-were-you-there/comment-page-2/#comment-821443. But the newspaper omitted the ugly side of that great airline disaster.
Captain Rodney Stich had left his job flying for the airlines and had gone to work for the federal government as an FAA airline safety inspector. During that government position , he was given the task to correct the conditions that were responsible for that disaster and the many others that United Airlines was experiencing. He discovered, and documented:
- Culture of corrupt and criminal acts by key people at United Airlines that enabled to occur an endless series of catastrophic airline disasters over many years that killed hundreds and hundreds of people.
- Culture of corruption within the higher levels of the FAA that prevented inspectors from reporting and correcting known safety problems responsible for a continuing series of deadly forewarned and preventable airline disasters.
- Cover-ups by key people at every level of government, and by media personnel, that enabled the causes to continue, and enabled to occur the many subsequent aviation disasters, to this very day.
Attempting to halt the continuing crashes and deaths, Stich embarked on a series of unprecedented actions that are detailed in, the book, History of Aviation Disasters: 1950 to 9/11.
Important Ripple Effects
Stich submitted a post to the New York Times article that was blocked from being viewed, as it reported what the most directly involved federal investigator had discovered that made that disaster possible. Of utmost importance to the American people to understand is the ripple effects in a continuing series of tragic and catastrophic effects that continues to effect the people. If enough good people would make the effort to understand how areas of corrupt activities have multiple tragic, deadly, catastrophic effects.
