U.S. Form of Long-Distance Remote Mass-Killing

At a U.S. Air Force Base in Nevada and also at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, are young military personnel involved in routine killings—at a safe distance from harm. Facing a panel of television monitors, 6,000 miles from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other Middle East and African countries, young military personnel fire missiles and rapid-fire machine guns that routinely kill groups of people—and the medical personnel that arrive to recover the wounded. These military personnel gave their working area the title, "Death TV," as they cavalierly murder people appearing on their monitors. In one video of such an operation—provided by WikiLeaks at www.collateralmurder.com, these U.S. military personnel are seen and heard bragging each time they kill a group—which in that one instance included a young girl—like Christina Green who was massacred at Tucson during the political town hall held by Representative Gabrielle Giffords.

A New York Times article (January 17, 2011) described these operations with the title, "In New Military, Data Overload Can Be Deadly," and stated:

When military investigators looked into an attack by American helicopters last February that left 23 Afghan civilians dead, they found that the operator of a Predator drone had failed to pass along crucial information about the makeup of a gathering crowd of villagers. But Air Force and Army officials now say there was also an underlying cause for that mistake: information overload. There were solid reports that the group included children, but the team did not adequately focus on them amid the swirl of data—much like a cubicle worker who loses track of an important e-mail under the mounting pile.

The team determined incorrectly that the villagers convoy [group] posed an imminent threat, resulting in one of the worst losses of civilian lives in the war in Afghanistan. [High-flying U.S. bombers doing carpet bombing routinely killed masses of Afghan civilians!]

At the Langley center, officially called Distributed Common Ground System-1, heavy multitasking is a daily routine for people like Josh, a 25-year-old first lieutenant. For 12 hours a day, he monitors an avalanche of images on 10 overhead television screens. They deliver what  Josh and his colleagues have nicknamed "Death TV"—live video streams from drones above Afghanistan showing [assumed] Taliban movements, suspected insurgent safe houses and American combat units headed into battle.

As he watches, Josh uses a classified instant-messaging system showing as many as 30 different chats with commanders at the front, troops in combat and headquarters at the rear. And he is hearing the voice of a pilot at the controls of a U-2 spy plane [safely] high in the stratosphere. The stress lingers when the shift is over. Josh works alongside Anthony, 23, an airman first class who says his brain hurts each night, the way feet ache after a long march.

What the U.S. military personnel see from their safe environment thousands of miles from Afghanistan and other target areas:

• Cannot accurately identify anyone to determine their status, or age, or activities. If they are seen to be carrying weapons, these could be for self-defense in a war zone with many warring factions.
   
• The people that are being murdered have not been questioned to determine who they were.
   
• Taliban government personnel, regardless of their brutal religious beliefs, had never done any harm to the United States, and are in the position of people defending their country against a war instituted against them by a serial lying U.S. president, his shills, and supported among the U.S. population.

In the United States, Randy Loughner, mentally affected by the systematic corruption in government and the confrontational rhetoric of the conservatives politicians and their series lying that led the nation to invade two countries on the basis of serial lying—and their supporters also engaged in murder, including that of nine-year-old Christina Green. For her, the nation mourned—while the enablers of hundreds of similar girls and thousands of others went unmourned.

Comparison of Blame

The Tucson murderer, Randy Loughner, outraged and delusion from the results of the systemic corruption in government, the confrontations rhetoric of the mostly right wing conservatives, murdered little Christina Green and others. He deserves capital punishment. On the other hand, the people that under criminal law have been complicit to the murder of many other little girls and tens of thousands of others, in the United states—including those engaged in serial lying and their shills—and supporters, have not suffered the slightest!

The Tucson murders shows the need to halt the incendiary confrontational language. But it also shows the need for the American public to finally become informed upon the systemic corruption and its harmful, deadly, and sometimes catastrophic consequences—and the systemic cover-ups by media personnel and media corporations. Until that day comes, and that is questionable, conditions will continue to worsen, as they have for the past 30 years. Only, this time, with the growth of the world's greatest number of people wanting to kill Americans (generated by the neo con politicians and their supporters), and the many ways to do it that they haven't even tried yet, the future is what the blissfully indifferent public enabled to occur.
